Telegu Desam Party (TDP) MP C.M. Ramesh Wednesday created a scene in the upper house when he tried to snatch papers from Rajya Sabha secretary general Shumsher K. Sheriff, irking Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien. The MP however apologised later.
Ramesh, who has been protesting continuously against formation of Telangana, along with party colleague Y.S. Chowdhary, tried to snatch papers as the secretary general was reading a message from Lok Sabha in the upper house.
The house was adjourned immediately.
When the house met at 2 p.m., Kurien condemned Ramesh's behaviour and called it a "breach of privilege".
As he was set to announce a punishment for the MP, Ramesh extended his apologies.
"I just took the papers, I am sorry for that," he said.
The deputy chairman then said he decided to drop the action he was going to take against the MP.
