Craze for a selfie with a revolver to his head has landed a teenaged boy in Punjab in hospital after he accidentally shot himself, police said on Saturday.
The incident took place in Pathankot town, about 250 km from here, in north Punjab on Friday night.
The victim, Amandeep Singh, was admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana after he shot himself in the head while taking a selfie with the revolver pointed to his head.
Police officials said that the boy was taking a selfie, along with his sister, with his phone. The revolver belonged to the boy's father, who is a contractor.
The injured boy was rushed to a local private hospital in Pathankot by neighbours as his parents had gone out to attend a social function. Doctors referred him to the hospital in Ludhiana.
The victim is a class 10 student in a private school in Pathankot.
Police officials said that investigations were being carried out into the incident.
