Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC), which is spearheading the movement for separate Telangana state, will chalk out its future course of action in two to three days.
JAC convenor M. Kodandaram told reporters Saturday that efforts were on to finalise an action plan to further intensify the movement. He said the JAC would continue the struggle till a separate state is carved out.
JAC, which comprises Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other political and non-political groups supporting the demand for separate state, demanded the central government table a bill for a new state in the parliament.
During the last two days, Kodandaram and other JAC leaders called on leaders of various national and regional parties in New Delhi to seek their support for the cause of Telangana. The JAC also held a round-table meeting, which passed a resolution urging the central government to abide by its Dec 9, 2009 statement.
Kodandaram defended the meeting with Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh, saying there was nothing wrong in meeting the leader of the ruling party. "We can meet anybody and at any place for the sake of Telangana," he said.
He believes that the JAC pressure on the centre was showing its results. He was referring to Digvijaya Singh's statement that a decision on Telangana is in final stage.
Kodandaram said they would soon call on President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
