Actress Sally Hawkins calls getting a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Actress category for her role in fantasy drama "The Shape of Water" a beautiful gift.
She added that working with the team was an "extraordinary and heart expanding experience".
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association on Monday announced nominees for this year's 75th annual Golden Globe Awards, an event that annually honours the best in television and films. She has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama.
"What a beautiful gift. Thank you with all my heart to the Hollywood Foreign Press for honouring this special film and my part in it. I am so very humbled by this acknowledgment," Hawkins said in a statement.
"Every piece of this film was and is a gift for me. Working with Guillermo del Toro (director) along with this exceptional cast and crew was one of the most extraordinary heart expanding experiences. He is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time I believe. And I am beyond thrilled that his vision, his ingenuity and artwork has been recognized in this way.... Thank you with all my heart thank you. I believe in magic and this is a magical thing," she added.
This year, Twentieth Century Fox is ruling the roost with 27 nominations in total.
Fox Star Studios' "Ferdinand", which is set to release on Friday, and "The Greatest Showman", which will release on December 29, are also nominated.
"Ferdinand" is nominated for the Best Animated Motion Picture and Best Original Song, and "The Greatest Showman" is nominated for the Best Actor (Hugh Jackman), Best Motion Picture- Music or Comedy and Best Original Song.
Apart from this, Twentieth Century Fox has bagged seven nominations for "The Shape of Water" and seven nominations for "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing", "Missouri", six nominations for "The Post" and two nominations for "Battle of the Sexes".
The Golden Globes ceremony will be held here on January 7 and will air in India on Vh1 on January 8.
