Three Bangladeshi cattle thieves were Tuesday lynched by irate villagers in Tripura, police said.
A group of Bangladeshi cattle thieves entered Gopalnagar village in Khowai district.
"When the villagers chased them, most of the intruders managed to cross over to Bangladesh. Three were caught and hacked to death on the spot by the villagers," Tripura Police spokesman Uttam Bhowmik told reporters.
A 60-year-old Tripura villager, Bhanu Debbarma, was injured when the fleeing Bangladeshi intruders fired at the mob.
Police said the slain men were from Habiganj in Bangladesh.
This was the second such incident this year in Khowai. On April 6, three Bangladeshi cattle thieves were lynched at Gournagar.
