The toll in a building collapse at a church complex in Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos climbed to 86 Saturday, authorities said.

While confirming the casualties, Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) director Charles Otegbade said the experts have been working swiftly with experts from South Africa, using forensic tests to identify the dead in the accident, Xinhua reported. At least 131 people injured in the collapsed building had been hospitalised.

The incident occurred at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Guest House in Ikotun downtown area of Lagos Sep 12, which serves as a Mecca of sort to local people and foreigners from different parts of the world.

On Tuesday, at least 67 South Africans were reported to have died in the tragic incident, according to South African President Jacob Zuma who sent condolences to the people of Nigeria and all other nations affected by the tragedy.
