Two men who duped uniformed personnel, deployed at Metro and railway stations and airports, of money have been arrested, police said on Monday.

Azad Khan, 24, and Mohammad Tamanne, 19, were involved in duping 50 to 60 persons in the past and were arrested from the domestic terminal (T1) of the Indira Gandhi International Airport here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Bhatia said.

On Wednesday, the two had duped a Central Industrial Security Force constable on the pretext of giving him a wad of Rs 500 notes, which in reality was made of plain paper with Rs 500 notes stapled on both sides.

Riding an auto-rickshaw along with the Constable from the domestic terminal, Tamanne told him that he had run away with a bundle of cash from his employer after the latter did not pay him.

Tamanne then offered the wad to the Constable, which he said totalled around Rs 3 lakh and asked for Rs 6,000 in return, police said.

Khan also joined their conversation, pretending all this while that he did not know Tamanne, and tricked the Constable into believing the story.

Khan and the Constable then paid jointly to Tamanne and took money from the victim, before leaving the spot on the pretext of dropping Tamanne at a bus stop.

The Constable later found out that he had been conned by the two accused.

Bhatia told IANS that the two had been cheating people for the past one year and had cheated around 50 to 60 persons.

"The accused targeted men in uniform at Metro stations, airports, and railway stations as they felt that they are gullible and hence can be cheated easily," Bhatia told IANS.
