At least two people were reportedly killed when a metro train derailed in New York City Monday.

The Metro-North train derailed in the morning at Spuyten Duyvil station in the Bronx, the northernmost of the five boroughs of New York City, reported CNN citing the New York Fire Department.

At least two people died, said a New York City police source familiar with the investigation and rescue.

About 100 firefighters are responding to the scene and multiple injuries are reported.

The accident occurred as five passenger cars derailed in the accident, the New York Fire Department said. The cars came off the track shortly after 7 a.m., fire officials said.
