Two men were arrested near the international border in West Bengal's Malda district and nearly one kg of narcotics they were trying to smuggle into Bangladesh seized from them, the BSF said on Thursday.
The duo was nabbed by the troopers on Wednesday under the Noorpur border outpost area in the district.
"A special patrol party intercepted them while they were attempting to go near the Bangladesh side. Upon search, 950 grams of brown powder suspected to be a narcotic substance was recovered from them," said Border Security Force Deputy Inspector General R.P.S. Jaswal.
The accused identified as Mohammad Aizul Sheikh (26) and Mohammad Nasiruddin Sheikh (35), both residents of the district, have been handed over to the Narcotic Control Bureau.
The BSF this year has seized over 45 kg of narcotics and apprehended eight smugglers from across the South Bengal frontier.
