Abu Dhabi, Oct 29 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates' (UAE) Energy Minister Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei has said that although the UAE is an oil-exporting country, it has taken the policy of diversification of energy sources,
According to Al Mazrouei, the UAE is always at the forefront in the use of solar energy applications to generate electricity.
This statement came in a speech delivered Tuesday by Matar Al Niyadi, under-secretary at the ministry of energy, on behalf of Al Mazrouei, at the opening of the 19th Annual Energy Conference at the headquarters of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research here.
He said that he expected that production of electricity from nuclear energy will start from the first reactor at the Barakah generating plant in 2017.
Al Mazrouei also added that the UAE was seeking to strengthen the stability of the global markets by raising its production capacity of oil.
