UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Tuesday that drones should only be used to collect information.

Speaking at the National University of Sciences and Technology, the UN chief, who is on a two-day visit to Pakistan, also called for international laws to be followed regarding drone attacks, Geo News reported.

During his visit Ban will hold talks with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, as well as meet young people and getting a briefing on work to combat floods in Pakistan.

Ban arrived in Pakistan Tuesday for talks on disaster management, peace and education, officials said.

He will attend the country's Independence Day celebrations Aug 14.

"Pakistan attaches great significance to the UN and accords high importance to the visit of Secretary General Ban Ki-moon," foreign ministry spokesperson Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry earlier said.

In New York, Ban's deputy spokesperson Eduardo del Buey said the secretary general will also hold discussions with the disaster management authority of Pakistan.

Ban will meet students in Islamabad to promote quality education for all, following a UN event "Malala Day" July 12 in honour of Pakistani girl Malala Yousafzai, over her heroic stand against the Taliban to ensure education for all.
