Actress Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar will play a police officer in the yet-untitled Tamil remake of recent Telugu sleeper hit, "Kshanam".
An official statement confirms the actress, who was last seen on the big screen in filmmaker Bala's Tamil drama "Tharai Thappattai", has been roped in to essay an important role.
"She plays a cop, the role originally played by Anasuya in the original. It's a role with negative shades and the makers believe it will be her best," a source from the film's unit told IANS.
Being directed by Pradeep Krishnamurthy, the film also stars Sibiraj, Remya Nambeesan, Anand Raj and Sathish.
The story revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a young girl and the events that follow.
The film's shoot is currently underway in the city.
