Veteran journalist and former editor of The Statesman newspaper Pran Chopra passed away Sunday following a brief illness, his niece Manicka Chopra said. He was 92.
Chopra is survived by his wife and two daughters.
In his more than 60 years as a journalist, Chopra was associated with many newspapers, including The Hindu and The Tribune.
He also brought out his own magazine, "The Citizen" and "The Weekend Review", general secretary of Editor's Guild of India Vijay Naik said.
Chopra was also a former member of the executive committee of the Editors' Guild of India.
He began his career with All India Radio.
