In a bid to "bring the Hindus together", the Vishva Hindu Parishad has decided to hold 'Astra Puja' (weapon worship) in 300 locations across West Bengal to mark Vijayadashami celebrations on Saturday, a VHP source said.
The Astra Puja would be organised indoors and in some localities where the idol of goddess Durga is worshipped, the source said on Friday.
The weapon worship is considered a part of the worship of goddess Durga, who has arms in her ten hands.
According to sources, the VHP strategy was to highlight the fact that weapons had an important place in Hindu rituals.
"In West Bengal, we want to bring the Hindus together against Jihadi and other anti-national forces. We will organise it indoors," said the VHP source.
