India's star batsman Virat Kohli is not only scoring the runs on the field but is also the most talked about World Cup player on social networking site Twitter.
A recent survey by the networking site found all the most frequently mentioned players on Twitter were from India or Pakistan, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
The sub-continent is also generating far more social media interest than Cup co-hosts Australia and New Zealand.
During India's game against Pakistan last Sunday, Twitter had 9990 posts a minute when the match ended.
The most mentioned match was India vs Pakistan, followed by Australia's game against England.
Twitter promotions, of varying scale in the sub-continent, is believed to have boosted its use in the cricket-dominated zone, the report adds.
