BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who is contesting from Varanasi, Monday urged the electorate to vote in large numbers and contribute towards changing the country's future.
"In this last phase also, I request the voters to come out and vote in large numbers, with the same amount of zeal and enthusiasm," the Bharatiya Janata Party leader said in a video message.
"Everyone has preferences during elections. But our preference is Bharat mata, the future of our youth and the people of this country. Come lets vote for them, and do our bit in making India's future a brighter one," he added.
"We are all servants of Bharat ma, come let us all come together and change her future," he urged with folded hands.
Donning a blue kurta with a red shawl thrown over shoulder , Modi said the women and youth voters showed great interest in the entire process, and added that without the enthusiastic participation of the people, a celebration of the festival of democracy would not have been possible.
"In the end, India, its democracy, the voter, and the Indian citizen should emerge victorious... As far as the candidates are concerned, it is the public which is responsible for their victory," he said in the 6.56-minute message.
On being asked if such a message on the polling day violates the Model Code of Conduct, a senior official from the Election Commission told IANS: "No, it's not a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The channels have been paid, and hence are showing the video."
Earlier, in a tweet, Modi "requested" the youths to go out and vote along with their family and friends.
"Today (Monday) is final phase of 2014 Polls. Urging all those voting in 41 seats across three states and assembly by-polls in West Bengal to vote in large numbers," added Modi.
