Rio de Janeiro, July 14 (IANS/EFE) After winning the World Cup here Sunday, Germany captain Philipp Lahm said that having "the best team" and not "the best players" is what finally counts.
"Whether to have or not to have the best individual players does not matter, what matters is the better team which we've had," Lahm said, reports Efe.
Lahm's statements referred to Lionel Messi of Argentina, who lost the final 0-1, while downplaying the difficulties posed by Argentine defence.
"We know that it is not normal in a semi-final or final of a World Cup to be winning 5-0 after 30 minutes," said the captain, referring to the 7-1 semi-final win over Brazil earlier.
