Will avenge atrocities committed against us, Bengal BJP chief warns Trinamool

Known for his vitriolic speeches, BJP's West Bengal unit president Dilip Ghosh on Friday threatened Trinamool Congress activists "indulging in atrocities" that once his party came to power in the state, there would be "revenge" and that they would have to spend the rest of their lives in jail.

"We don't believe in violence. But the way atrocities are being perpetrated on people, they (Trinamool activists) are murdering democracy, we have to say certain things. Otherwise people won't forgive us.

"So I say Bodol noi, lal kali te likhe rakhchi, sob badla nebo (I tell you, I am not only talking of change, i am writing down everything in red ink. We will take revenge for everything)," Ghosh told a public meeting at Mohula of Purulia district.

Ghosh said once the political situation changed, the police would teach a lesson or two to the Trinamool activists.

"One day the situation will change. It may happen tomorrow or in 2021 (when the state assembly elections are scheduled to be held). Then police will bring them from the house by tying them up with ropes.

Ghosh, who has a propensity for shooting off his mouth, has triggered controversies one after another since taking over as the state Bharatiya Janata Party president in December, 2015.
