Woman hangs herself after tiff with mother-in-law

A woman committed suicide after a tiff with her mother-in-law when the latter scolded her son, police said Saturday.

The incident, which occurred in Avantika residential colony, came to light Saturday morning.

Police said on Friday night, Pallavi (30) fought with her mother-in-law Lata who shouted at her three-year-old son. After the fight, Pallavi went to her bedroom and the other family members thought that she had gone to sleep.

But in the morning when she did not come of her room till as late at 9 a.m, the family members knocked at the door, and when did not get any response, peeped inside through key hole and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. They called the neighbours who called police.

Pallavi had married Rahul in 2010.

Police reached the crime spot and seized the dead body for autopsy. "When we called the husband and the mother-in-law for the statement, we found them missing," said local station officer Avneesh Gautam.

"We have informed the deceased's parents to take the dead body after the legal formalities. We will register the case if her parents lodge a complaint," he added.
