The water level of the Yamuna river would start rising Tuesday in Delhi with the release of another 8 lakh cusecs of water from the Hathnikund barrage in Haryana, a Delhi government official said.
"The water level will rise from Tuesday in Delhi since 8 lakh cusecs water will be released from Hathnikund barrage in Haryana," Rajiv Kumar of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority told IANS.
"Though there is no sign of flood, we have taken all flood control measures in the review meeting on Monday," he added.
Currently, Yamuna is flowing at a height of 202.34 metres near the old railway bridge in central delhi where the danger mark is 204.83 metres.
Earlier Sunday, the sudden release of water from the Hathnikund barrage resulted in flash flood leaving 52 villagers in Yamunanagar district marooned before they were rescued.
The release of water also led to the river flowing at the danger mark.
