A Yemeni jet trainer aircraft crashed Wednesday while landing at a local airport in Taiz province, killing its pilot, a military source said, adding that it was yet to be ascertained if the accident occurred due to technical malfunctioning or the plane was shot down.
It was a Hungarian-made Aero L-39 air force training plane which crashed on landing at Taiz airport, Xinhua quoted the source as saying while requesting anonymity.
"We saw the plane breaking up into several parts after it hit the airport and caused a huge explosion," a witnesses near the crash site said.
