A South African court on Friday postponed the corruption case against former President Jacob Zuma till May 2019 after defence lawyers petitioned the court to drop all charges.
The Pietermaritzburg court decided to postpone the case against Zuma in order to give the South African Attorney General's office time to review the arguments of the defence.
The defence consisted of Zuma's legal team and the lawyers that represented Thales, a French arms company involved in the case, Efe news reported.
According to local analysts, the defence's petition was not strong enough to get the court to drop the charges against Zuma.
Zuma who led the African country between 2009 and 2018 and was pressured into resigning, appeared in court on Friday and stated during the proceedings that he was not feeling well and asked for a beverage.
The former President was facing charges of illicit association, corruption, money laundering and fraud for nearly 800 operations related to an arms accord signed with Thales in the late 1990s when Zuma was deputy President of the African country.
