A dumper carrying silt collided with a petrol wagon train at Unnao in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, leaving the vehicle's driver seriously injured, police said.

The accident at the Sahjani railway crossing near the Ganga Ghat station disrupted rail traffic on the important Kanpur-Lucknow route, officials said.

The dumper was dragged up to a distance before the train came to a halt.

The driver of the dumper has been admitted to a medical facility in critical condition. An official told IANS that a case had been lodged against the driver under the Railways Act.
