German tennis player Alexander Zverev on Thursday advanced to the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters after winning 6-3, 6-3 over Italian Fabio Fognini.

Zverev defeated Fognini, who knocked out current world No. 1 Andy Murray, in an hour and 18 minutes, reports Efe.

The 20-year-old German, who won his third title two weeks ago in Munich, reached the second round in his Rome Masters debut last year.

The 16th seed is set to meet the winner of the match between Czech Tomas Berdych and Canadian Milos Raonic.
