Turmoil reigned in Parliament when the government decided to extend the current session of Parliament for three more days after the Christmas vacation. In the Central Hall, when leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the Lok Sabha, Dara Singh Chauhan, informed the leader of his party in the upper house, Satish Misra, that he had agreed to the extension on BSP’s behalf, Misra remonstrated with him. “Who asked you to agree? We have a public meeting in Lucknow. How will we attend it? Go and tell Bansalji (Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Bansal) that the extension is not convenient for us,” he ordered. The BJP was also at odds with itself over the extension, with Sushma Swaraj asking her party to agree to finishing the debate before December 23.
