The Netherlands has always been one of the more engaging teams of the cricket World Cup, playing some decent and entertaining cricket despite being the rank underdog. The fact that this conspicuously non-cricket playing nation is able to put up a team at all is worthy of wonder. Describing preparations back home, Netherlands Ambassador Bob Hiensch joked that the country basically leverages its skills as a major commodity importer. Thus, the Dutch “source” players who are also Dutch passport holders from other cricket-playing nations like South Africa and England to form their team.
