Speaking at a memorial lecture in Bangalore last week, Anand Mahindra, vice-chairman and MD, Mahindra & Mahindra, said he tried to do so once late in the evening and his wife went to sleep before he could finish. But he’d found the solution before this speech — and after the compere had read out lengthy version of his curriculum vitae. This was a perfect opportunity for his wife to hear all about his achievements, Mahindra joked, since she couldn’t afford to drop off in public.
