He may be Bajaj Auto chairman and he may be a former CII president, but Rahul Bajaj likes to think he’s a common man. So, while delivering a speech on the occasion of the release of CII’s new corporate governance code, Bajaj said he was an aam aadmi. After his speech was over, and as he sat next to Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, he passed him a note saying people in meetings always referred to him as a former CII president, and no one mentioned he was a Rajya Sabha MP or the head of Bajaj Auto. When it was Khurshid’s turn to speak, he read out Bajaj’s note and said his ministry’s objective was to take care of all aam aadmis and to make them like the aam aadmi Bajaj — intellectually, financially and socially.
