Binny says Kejriwal exit was preplanned, eyeing Lok Sabha

Kejriwal resigned as CM after the Assembly session was adjourned sine die following protests by the opposition

Expelled Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Vinod Kumar Binny on Saturday accused Arvind Kejriwal of resigning from the post of Delhi Chief Minister, alleging that it was part of a plan that was hatched two months ago to use the Jan Lokpal Bill for bigger political gains.

"They made a plan 60 days ago. I used to work with them. They planned to bring the Jan Lokpal Bill in such an undemocratic manner that it can't be cleared, and they would exit the power thereafter. Their main agenda isn't the Jan Lokpal Bill; it is the upcoming Lok Sabha elections," he said.

The legislator also alleged that Kejriwal and his party would continue to play politics in the name of the Lokpal for the next 20 years.

"Arvind Kejriwal never really wanted to get the Jan Lokpal Bill passed. He was just playing politics on this issue and he will continue to do so. If the bill was passed, he couldn't use the issue for political gains any longer. If he was so sincere, he could wait for some time. But he only wanted to create controversy," he added.

Binny did not rule out supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if the situation demanded.

"I don't want to burden the Delhi people with fresh elections. But it depends on other parties as well. The BJP should think about it. I will think about supporting the BJP only after it makes its election agendas clear," he said.

Earlier on Friday, Kejriwal resigned as Delhi Chief Minister after the Assembly session was adjourned sine die following protests by the opposition over the Jan Lokpal Bill.

"Today Jan Lokpal Bill was not allowed to be introduced, BJP and Congress united to oppose it. Their true faces have been brought in front of all of us," he said to the AAP supporters who had gathered outside the party office here today.

"I did not come here for power. And today our Government has tendered its resignation. And I will consider myself fortunate if I have to sacrifice my life for the country. We had a Cabinet meeting right now, and it was decided that our government will resign," he added.

Kejriwal also said that the Delhi Assembly should be immediately dissolved, and demanded for re-elections in the state.

He further claimed the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) for blocking the Bill in the House, in retaliation to the FIR filed by the Delhi Government against Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani over gas prices.
