Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Urban Development and Housing M Venkaiah Naidu has today said that by replacing the Governors in various States, the BJP government is only doing what Congress did when they came into power.
Speaking about the Office Memoranda giving prominence to Hindi in the centre's official social media accounts, he said no language will be imposed or forced on anybody.
Speaking to the reporters in his first visit to the BJP party office in Chennai, Naidu said that the governors appointed by the previous National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government were removed by the Congress-led government, asking them to resign on moral grounds.
He added that those who got appointed, such as Governors and heads of committees should go, while those who got elected and selected to various positions, such as through UPSC or IAS, could continue.
"My suggestion is that these people should go along with the ruling party when it lose the mandate," said Naidu, who added that it is the way the democractic system functions smoothly.
Commenting on the official communication of the Home Ministry regarding usage of Hindi in social media official accounts, he said that mother toungue will be given due importance and no body is going to force others on usage of a particular language.
It may be noted that both the Dravidian parties has expressed their strong protest against the Office Memoranda of the Union Home Ministry.
He added that the big task before the government at present is to bring the economy back to normal. The growth has to be inclusive for all the States, he added.
