Election code prevents Raman's showcase of growth feat

Raman Singh-led govt badly needs to attractively display what it had done during last decade

The model code of conduct for the ensuing state polls in Chhattisgarh has prevented the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government to showcase its growth feat.

Ironically, this comes when the government led by Raman Singh is  badly in need to attractively display what it has done in the last one decade.

The state goes to the elections on November 11 and November 19 with BJP making development and growth as its poll planks.

Banking on the pro-incumbency votes, the BJP has been trying to retain the power for the third consecutive term. The Congress is desperate to oust the BJP and has made the government’s alleged corruption and misrule  a major issue.

While both the parties have been pulling all the strings, the election code of conduct that came into effect from October 4 has played spoilsports.The norms restrict the state government to display its achievement in the Rajyotsav—the state’s foundation day fair organised every year in the first week of November.
