He added that Kejriwal should proceed according to the law

Commenting on the protest of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against Delhi Police, Congress leader Meem Afzal on Monday said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should have refrained from taking such a step, as he is sending a wrong message to the public, and that the issues that the party has should be sorted lawfully.

"I think Kejriwal's party and his party have sent a wrong message to the people by taking this step. When people have given him the power of politics, he should proceed according to the law. He should have refrained from holding a Dharna," said Afzal.

"After this step of his, I feel backward counting for Arvind Kejriwal has begun. Four metro stations have been shut down because of them. The public is facing inconvenience because of them," he said.

"The issues can only be solved through law. He has been given a good chance, and power, he has our support as well, so he should act responsibility The public never supports unjust actions," he added.

am Aadmi Party's (AAP) 'dharna' is to take place outside Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's office, demanding action against the Delhi Police today.

The party is demanding action against Delhi Police personnel for alleged dereliction of duty.

Party leader Sanjay Singh made it clear yesterday that AAP will stage the protest if no action is taken against the police officers.

Mr Kejriwal, accompanied by Cabinet colleagues Manish Sisodia, Somnath Bharti and Rakhi Birla, had met Mr Shinde on Friday and demanded suspension of the "guilty" policemen by 10 AM today, failing which they would protest in front of the Home Ministry's office.

AAP is demanding the suspension of the station house officers (SHO) of Sagarpur and Malviya Nagar police stations and two assistant commissioners of police.
