Madhya Pradesh records highest voter turnout

Voter turnout in 2008 was 69.08%

Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest ever voter turnout of over 70% in Monday's assembly election, the Election Commission said.

"Madhya Pradesh voting is likely to exceed 71%, the highest ever turnout in the state," Deputy Election Commissioner Sudhir Tripathi told reporters.

Voter turnout till 5 p.m. was 65.45%.

The Election Commission said minor incidents of violence were reported from Bhind and Morena districts.

"A case was registered against state minister Ranjana Baghel in Dhar district for allegedly bribing voters," said Tripathi.

Voter turnout in 2008 was 69.08%.
