Around 81 percent voters cast their ballot in the country's northeastern state of Mizoram Monday, deputy election commissioner Vinod Zutshi said in the national capital.

"Polling was brisk and peaceful. No untoward incident was reported," Zutshi said.

He added that there was a likelihood that the percentage figure might increase as reports from some constituencies are still not in.

In 2008, Mizoram recorded 82.35 percent turnout in assembly polls.
