Welcoming the proposals of NASSCOM and FIEO in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said these projects will create more jobs and opportunities for the youth and entrepreneurs in the state.

"Over the last one week, Bengal's IT, engineering and manufacturing sectors saw very positive and encouraging developments," Banerjee said in a Facebook post.

"NASSCOM has offered to build the first ever Incubation Centre for young and aspiring IT entrepreneurs in Kolkata. We have heartily welcomed the proposal and have already offered 10,000 sqft space for setting up of the Centre immediately with provision for another 10,000 sqft for future requirement," Banerjee said.

"NASSCOM has also offered to partner the state to share globally cutting edge thinking with students of the Indian Institute of Information Technology coming up at Kalyani and also mentor students towards entrepreneurship and placement," she said.

"India's apex body for export organizations, FIEO has, acknowledged top 18 exporters in engineering and manufacturing sectors from eastern region of India, of which 16 are from Bengal, who have exported goods and services worth more than Rs 11,000 crore.

"Bengal's exports were around Rs 63,000 crore in 2013-14, of which nearly Rs 32,000 crore is from the engineering and manufacturing sectors," she said.

Banerjee said FIEO has announced to double the target of exports from USD 10.5 Billion now to USD 20 Billion from Bengal in the coming 3-4 years.

"All these developments will certainly create more jobs and more opportunities for our youth and our entrepreneur friends," she said.
