Telangana chief secretary, Rajiv Sharma, said there was a sense of urgency and chief minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, was very particular to see that the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project was completed according to schedule.

Sharma, who conducted a meeting of the HMR Special Task Force to review the progress on Thursday, gave instructions to ensure execution of the project works without any hindrance.

Briefing about the progress, HMR managing director, NVS Reddy, brought to the notice of Sharma that 283 critical properties have been identified for road widening in three metro corridors for smooth flow of traffic during execution.

According to an official press release, Reddy said tight targets were set for land acquisition and town-planning cells of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for completing the acquisition of the properties by the end of next month.

It was decided to request railway officials to hand over land between Lekha Bhavan and Oliphenta bridge for road widening and construction of  station. Another small portion  was sought for an approach road for Alugaddabavi road underbridge.

Sharma was stated to have instructed the police department to hand over police properties at Chikkadpally traffic police station and Gopalapuram police station at the earliest. He also asked the commissioner of police to issue necessary instructions to police officials concerned for releasing work-fronts to HMR in a fast-track mode after inspection of the stretches.
