Prospective graduate and business school students worldwide to receive 50 percent discount if they test in August or September

Since registration for the GRE® revised General Test opened on March 15, Educational Testing Service (ETS) has seen a significant number of registrations from candidates seeking half-price savings and a more test-taker friendly experience, company officials report.

“We are excited to be able to offer a discounted fee in these first two months of testing, and encourage candidates to take advantage of this opportunity,” said David Payne, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of ETS’s Higher Education Division. “We are confident that when testing begins on August 1, test takers will be pleased with the new design that will give them more flexibility in how they take the test.”

The GRE revised General Test will include new types of questions and new design features that will contribute to a friendlier test-taking experience. Featuring advanced technology that lets test takers move back and forth, edit or change answers, and skip and return to questions within a section, candidates will now have the freedom to use more of their own personal test-taking strategies and style.

Registration for the GRE revised General Test is now available on the GRE website. Prospective test takers registering to take the GRE revised General test in August or September 2011 will receive a 50 percent discount on their test fee. Seats are expected to fill up quickly, so ETS encourages prospective applicants to register as soon as they know when they need their scores. ETS also reminds candidates to pay close attention to application deadlines. If a school requires scores before November 2011, applicants need to take the current GRE General Test before August. This is because those who take the GRE revised General Test between August and November 2011 will receive scores according to a special score reporting schedule. Normal score reporting — 10–15 days after testing — will resume in December 2011.

“There are a variety of resources for prospective test takers looking for more information about the GRE revised General Test, preparation materials, test dates, locations and more,” adds Payne.  “TakeTheGRE.com and the GRE page on facebook are two new sites test takers can visit to ask questions and get information directly from the source as well as from their peers.”
