S.Roy Choudhury takes over as CMD, HPCL
Shri S.Roy Choudhury has assumed charge as Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, one of India’s leading Fortune 500 company. He takes over from Shri A.Balakrishnan who superannuated on July 31, 2010. Prior to this assignment, Shri Roy Choudhury was holding the position of Director – Marketing
Shri S. Roy Choudhury is a Mechanical Engineer from Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat (Dibrugarh University), Assam. Shri Roy Choudhury started his career with HPCL almost three decades ago. He has handled various portfolios in Marketing Function and possesses a rich experience in the oil sector. Shri Roy Choudhury started his career at Assam Oil Company, (Refinery Division) Digboi, in 1976 { the then subsidiary of Burmah Oil Company } .
In his capacity as Director – Marketing, Shri Roy Choudhury spearheaded a number of innovations & initiatives in Marketing, thereby increasing the market share of HPCL. As a result HPCL received a number of awards in Research & Development, New Product Development, Safety & Security, LPG Marketing, Retail, Aviation etc.

- CNBC Awaaz Consumer Award 2007 for India’s Most Preferred Brand of Auto Fuel-Power.
- India’s 25 Innovative Business for Innovations in the business & marketing.
- Most Admired Retailer of the Year – Forecourt Retailing Award 2007
- Popular consumer award for Lubricant Marketing.
In the recent past Shri Roy Choudhury was awarded the ‘Greatest Brand Builder’ by CMO Asia and was conferred the ‘Marketing Professional of the Year Award’ at the World Brand Congress.

- Director - South Asia LPG Co Ltd (SALPG), a JV of HPCL and Total Gas & Power India (a wholly owned subsidiary of TOTAL of France)
- Director – CREDA HPCL Biofuel Ltd, a subsidiary compay with equity shareholding of 74% by HPCL and 26% by Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA)
- Director – Avantika Gas Ltd, a JV of HPCL and GAIL (India) Ltd
- Director - HPCL Biofuel Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary company of HPCL
