'Maoist leader' Chandi Sarkar released from jail

Sarkar who was arrested from Kathgara village under Chapra police station in Nadia district on 23 September, 2005, reached home here this afternoon.

There had been six cases against Sarkar who had been slapped with sedition and other charges including under the Arms Act.

Of the six cases against him in various police stations, he was acquitted in three and bails were granted against the remaining three cases, his daughter Ranusree Sarkar said.
