Of the total 11 districts in the national capital, maximum 277 dark spots are in South-West district, while the lowest 29 are in New Delhi district.
These spots were identified by the Delhi police.
The number of these spots in other districts are - central (65), north (159), south (40), west (160) east (251), north east (122), south east (202), outer (226) and north west (51), Minister of State for Home M Ramachandran said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.
"Though this is not in the charter of duties of Delhi Police but in an endeavour to curb crime, such dark spots are identified from time to time. The matter is taken up with agencies concerned for better lighting at these spots and further increased police presence is also maintained at around these spots," he said.
