"A fire broke out at a plastic material shop in Shukrawar Peth in the small hours today. It took 12 fire tenders to douse off the fire. But during the firefighting operation, a wall of an adjoining wada collapsed, in which one person, who used to work in that shop, got injured," said Prashant Ranpise, chief fire officer of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Four firefighters also sustained minor injuries in the incident, he said.
"Bansal got injured after the wall caved in. He was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries," police said.
Fire brigade officials said they were yet to ascertain what triggered the blaze and the probe was on.
