The vehicle rigged with explosives was detonated at around 10.30 PM (1930 GMT) late yesterday in a village just north of the Diyala provincial capital Baquba, a police lieutenant colonel and a doctor said.
All of those killed were men, Dr Ahmed al-Azzawi said, adding that four of the wounded were women.
The attack came after a spate of car bombings in Baghdad just before Iraqis broke their Ramadan fast killed 31 people in the capital, the latest in spiralling violence that has left hundreds dead during the Muslim holy month in Iraq.
