The Congress Screening Committee headed by V Narayanasamy today finalised the names of 10 more sitting MLAs of Delhi for renomination in coming assembly polls here.
The Screening committee had already recommened the names of 30 sitting MLAs to the Central Election Committee headed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
In today's meeting, sources said, the Screening Committee kept as pending applications of three sitting MLAs -- Dayanand Chandila (Rajouri Garden), Jaswant Rana (Narela) and Asif Mohammed Khan (Okhla).
The sources said the Committee withheld names of the three MLAs as they are facing criminal charges.
"The names of 10 sitting MLAs will now be forwarded to the Central Election Committee (CEC)," said the sources.
The CEC, presided by Gandhi, had on Monday decided to announce the names of candidates only after Diwali.
At the CEC meeting, the party leadership had examined the criteria and the process on which the Screening Committee finalised the tickets and also the basis on which the applications of some contenders were rejected.
The Screening Committee meeting today also discussed possible candidates for 27 seats where Congress suffered defeat in the 2008 assembly polls.
It has already decided not to give tickets to those who suffered two consecutive defeats in either assembly polls or municipal elections.
Besides, the ticket aspirants who lost election by a margin of 10,000 votes will also not be considered.
Besides, Narayansamy, other members of the Screening Committee include Bhubaneshwar Kalita, Shakeel Ahmed, DPCC chief J P Agarwal, Sheila Dikshit and Kuldip Nagra.
Around 1,600 Congress men had applied for tickets.
