10 rapes reported daily in UP on an average: NCRB

On an average 10 rapes are reported everyday in Uttar Pradesh, a senior police official said today quoting National Crime Record Bureau data.
"According to NCRB, UP is at the 22nd place as far as crime is concerned. Here, 10 rapes are reported everyday on an average of which 60-65 per cent took place when they (women) went to attend nature's call (in the open)," IG STF, Ashish Gupta told reporters here.
Gupta was replying to questions against the backdrop of the gangrape and murder of two Dalit sisters in Badaun and another incident of gangrape in Azamgarh, the constitutency of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
