15 injured in clash over change of procession route

At least 15 people were injured in a clash with the police after it tried to change the route of a religious procession in Bardah area of the district today.
Idols were being taken for immersion in the procession when the administration intervened and tried to change the route in Khamauli village due to objections raised by a community over the old route, police said.
When people in the procession insisted on sticking to the old route an argumet broke out between them and the police which later erupted into clashes.
Police resorted to cane-charge and fired tear gas shells to quell the protest.
At least 15 people were injured in the clash.
The mob set a police van and a jeep ablaze and police fired in the air to disperse the mob.
Senior police and administrative officials have rushed to the spot to control the situation.
