The incident occurred at around 11 pm on June 27, police said.
Gulab Singh, an employee of the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department, had scolded and slapped his younger son for not studying properly, said SHO Brijesh Sharma.
A heated argument ensued between the two and in a fit of rage, the boy stabbed his father in the chest with a kitchen knife, he added.
A profusely bleeding Gulab was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injury as his heart was punctured in the incident.
Police found glitches in the story and interrogated the younger son on the basis of suspicion during which, he confessed to killing his father, he added.
The boy was produced before a juvenile court before being sent to the juvenile jail in Noida, he said.
