The event, organised by Coimbatore Auto Sports Club, is conducted in memory of M K Chander, an enthusiast involved in motor sports in a big way, with a career spanning over 14 years.
The rally, to be run on Time, Speed and Distance (TSD) format, is dedicated to his achievements in motor sports.
The event will cover a distance of approximately 125 kms and speed is not the criteria for this event, but the accuracy of driving the vehicle based on the given speed chart and road map, a club release said today.
There will be secret check points on the route to monitor their speeds and every second is liable for penalty whether they are running late or early and about 70 teams are expected to take part in the rally, it said.
The event will be run in Open, Novice and a separate class for All Ladies this year.
