2 Afghan cops killed in Pakistani border town

Two Afghan policemen were killed by militants in the border town of Chaman in southwestern Pakistan today, officials said.

Ismail Ibrahim, the Assistant Commissioner of Chaman town in Balochistan, said the Afghan policemen were killed by militants. "The two policemen were from Kandahar province," he said.

Police found their bodies in Boghra area of Chaman, which is an important border crossing in southwest Pakistan.

A note found with the bodies stated that "those working with Afghan forces would meet the same fate", Ibrahim said.

The bodies were taken to the Civil Hospital in Chaman for an autopsy.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the killings but Pakistani officials believe the Afghan Taliban were behind the incident.

In a separate development, security forces foiled a terror plot to target a Shia procession by arresting two suspected suicide bombers in Chaman.
