Heatwave conditions that have been sweeping Rajasthan since yesterday claimed the lives of two beggars in Jaipur, with Kota recording the state's highest temperature at 41.6 degrees Celsius today.
The body of an unidentified beggar, aged around 60 years, was recovered at Galtadham. Another body that of an elderly person was found lying on the lawn of Rambagh Circle here yesterday, police said.
The bodies have been shifted to the SMS Hospital, police said.
Meanwhile, the heatwave conditions picked up momentum in north-west, a MeT report said. Churu recorded a maximum of 40.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Chittorgarh 40.1, Barmer 39.9, Jaipur 39.8, and Ganganagar 39.0 degrees.
The impact of western disturbance that caused dust storm and thundershower since last week has weakened today, and dry weather conditions could further raise mercury in the state in the next 24 hours, a MeT forecast said.
