According to prosecution records, the two Indian men, both aged 30, broke-open the door of an electricity station in Al Twar, Al Qusais, and cut the power cables in an attempt to steal them. But they were shortly arrested by the police.
The duo damaged the station door lock, disconnected and cut the cables, worth 143,980 (nearly USD 39,200), as per a Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) report.
A police sergeant testified in the prosecution investigation that around 2am (local time) on March 2, he took the defendants into custody after they were caught attempting to stealing the power cables, the Khaleej Times reported.
The accused admitted to him that they broke the station's door lock with a big pair of scissors and cut the metallic cables.
