The two men have been charged in the Court of First Instance with attempted robbery by using a sharp weapon and damaging public property.
According to prosecution records, the two Indian men, both aged 30, broke-open the door of an electricity station in Al Twar, Al Qusais, and cut the power cables in an attempt to steal them. But they were shortly arrested by the police.
The duo damaged the station door lock, disconnected and cut the cables, worth 143,980 (nearly USD 39,200), as per a Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) report.
The accused admitted to him that they broke the station's door lock with a big pair of scissors and cut the metallic cables.
They confessed to have pre-planned the robbery. While they were putting the stolen cables in carton boxes, they had brought with them, an Arab man saw them and called the police.
